ZANC AGMZANC

Dear ZANC Members,

You are reminded that ZANC’s Annual meeting will be held on Sunday, February 18th
at 1.30 p.m. at the San Jose Daremehr.

A biryani lunch will be served following our Sunday school on the same day.

The Adult Discussion group will be featuring our special speaker - Dr. Ardeshir Damania , who will be giving us a slide lecture on

“Zarathushtis in Iran after the Arab invasion - How they kept the faith “

We hope you will attend in large numbers and encourage everyone to come.

There will be a pot-luck lunch, Biryani will be provided by the Board, please bring any
suitable accompaniments or dessert.

We will be grateful if you let us know, whether you will be there, so we can have enough
biryani for all.

جشن سده جشن بزرگ آتش با خاستگاه كيهانی

جشن «سَـدَه» بزرگترین جشن‌ آتش و یكی از كهن‌ترین آیین‌های گروهی و اشتراكی شناخته شده در ایران باستان است. در این جشن و در آغاز شامگاه دهم بهمن‌ماه، همه مردمانِ سرزمین‌های ایرانی بر بلندای كوه‌ها و بام خانه‌ها، آتش‌هایی برمی‌افروخته و هنوز هم كم‌‌وبیش بر می‌افروزند. مردمان نواحی مختلف در كنار شعله‌های آتش و با توجه به زبان و فرهنگ خود، سرودها و ترانه‌های گوناگونی را خوانده و آرزوی رفتن سرما و آمدن گرما را می‌كنند. همچنین در برخی نواحی، به جشن‌خوانی، بازی‌ها و نمایش‌های دسته‌جمعی نیز می‌پردازند. Greatest Discovery
Take away fire and man (stands for both the genders) will revert to wilderness like any other animal! The greatest discovery made by man alone on this good earth is the art of making and maintaining fire. He, like any other animal, had seen fire striking from clouds, devouring bushes and trees, and devastating large tracts of green land. He had also seen fire being spewed by a volcano and the molten lava snaking and snarling its way down the slopes. He also knew it gave heat and scared ferocious animals. Though still not proven, but most probably he had learned how to keep it burning. It provided him and his associates with light, warmth, and a device to keep ferocious animals away. Mr President, we need an elephant for our zoo

... A Parsi family generously donated it to the Karachi Zoo. Elephants are said to be one of the most endangered species around the world, slowly becoming extinct. Their exchange and trade is strictly prohibited between countries and is also banned according to (CITES). This however, excludes zoos and safaris as they are meant to conserve the species. ...

Karachi: It has been almost six months since the death of “Anarkali,” who passed away on July17, 2006, and the Karachi Zoo still remains without an elephant, which is considered as a major source of attraction at any zoo. Anarkali the elephant was the heart of the zoo and there has, to-date, been no replacement after her death.

انجمن زرتشتيان تهران آيين پرسه همگاني برگزار مي كند

انجمن زرتشتيان تهران اعلام كرد: آيين پرسه همگاني اسفندماه روز اورمزد و اسفندماه برابر 25/11/1385 از ساعت 8 تا 11 بامداد در تالار ايرج برگزار مي‌شود.
اين انجمن در اطلاعيه خود اعلام كرده‌است، همكيشاني كه مايل هستند نام درگذشته‌شان در يك سال گذشته براي اين آيين ثبت شود، بايد تا تاريخ 15/بهمن ماه/1385 به دفتر سازمان پذيرايي مراجعه فرمايند.
نشاني دفتر سازمان پذيرايي در طبقه بالاي تالار خسروي واقع در خيابان ميرزاكوچك‌خان، كوچه زرتشتيان، شماره 8 است.

همايش جوانان و برقراري ارتباط موثر برگزار شد

چهارمين همايش كميسيون جوانان، اشتغال و ورزش انجمن زرتشتيان تهران با موضوع جوانان و برقراري ارتباط موثر در پسين روز پنجشنبه 5/11/1385 برگزار شد.
به گزارش خبرنگار ما، در اين سمينار كه در تالار خسروي برگزار شد و بيش از 500 نفر از افراد زرتشتي حضور داشتند، آقاي مهندس طوس دهنادي يكي از كارآفرينان زرتشتي درباره ويژگي‌هاي مخترعان و مبتكران سخن گفت. سپس آقاي كورش نيكنام نماينده زرتشتيان در مجلس در سخناني به موضوع مهاجرت و رفتن جوانان به سرزمين‌هاي ديگر اشاره كرد. وي در سخنان خود گفت كه نمي‌توان در اين‌باره داوري مثبت يا منفي كرد و هر كس بايد خود دراين‌باره تصميم‌گيري كند.
