Tehran’s Melal Cultural Center will host a festive week to mark Iran’s New Year.
The six-day event will begin on March 11, shortly before the New Year celebrations called Noruz or new day.

The celebration of spring will run through March 21 to April 1.

Noruz has been celebrated by all the major cultures of ancient Mesopotamia, Sumerian, Babylonians and Elam but what we have today as Noruz with its uniquely Iranian characteristics has been celebrated for at least 3000 years and deeply rooted in the traditions.

“Ancient Iranian Noruz is a precious heritage and is considered one of the world’s oldest feasts occurred at the same time with the nature’s revival in spring, “MNA quoted an excerpt from the center’s announcement.

“Noruz is shining in the history and we are duty-bound to preserve the heritage and introduce it to the next generation,” it added.

The organizers aim to highlight Noruz traditions, including the decoration and arrangements of Haft-Sin (Seven S’s) spread, painting eggs used in the spread and reciting poetry of renowned Sufi poets including Hafez and Ferdowsi.

Melal center is also planning to hold exhibitions on safe fireworks, paintings, books, and films on Noruz.
