Hundreds of Zoroastrians, followers of the prophet Zarathustra, are gathering this weekend to reflect on their faith, and its main tenets of “good thoughts, good words and good deeds.”
The delegates, expected to number about 500 from around the world, are attending the 14th annual North American Zoroastrian Congress from today until Monday.
The religion, one of the oldest in existence, has greatly influenced Judaism, Christianity and other faiths with regard to the ultimate victory of good over evil and the resurrection of souls, experts say.

The tide has come in for interfaith diversity education, and with it bringing waves of change.
Such is the belief and hope of Interfaith Action, a high school religious interfaith group based in Sharon. It was also a prime motivation as teens from the group’s Youth Leadership Program hosted a remarkable event this week called T.I.D.E. (Teenage Interfaith Diversity Education): A Wave of Change.
The event was a teen-run conference held on Tuesday in at Harvard University’s Divinity School. The day-long conference brought together not only the teen members of Sharon’s Interfaith Action, but also invited similarly interfaith and like-minded high-school teens Read More »
In Hinduism, the norms controlled by Brahmanism are more rigid than the one’s around Shramanic traditions like Bhakti, Nath, Siddha etc. Amongst Muslims also the pattern amongst Shias and Sunnis is not the same. Parsi fire temples display a prominent board banning non-Parsis to enter their temple- Ram Puniyani
On June 11 2007 the Guruvayur temple trust issued an apology for the purification ritual carried out by them, in the aftermath of the visit of Vyalar Ravi with his family to the temple. The purification was performed to cleanse the temple as Mr. Ravi’s wife Mercy is a Christian.
In this temple the ones from other religions are not permitted, as the purity pollution is strongly adhered to. In the apology it said that since Mr. Ravi’s son Krishna is a Hindu, so performing the purification ritual was a mistake. On the heels of this the minister for temple affairs of Kerala is planning to come up with a law to ensure that all those born in Hindu families are permitted to the temples.

Assuring the protection of the trees in the Towers of Silence, the Zoroastrian crematorium, better known as Doongerwadi, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday asked the BMC to submit an undertaking to the court stating that no trees would be cut or damaged because of the double decker hoarding erected at the heritage precinct.
Activist Anahita Pandole moved the Bombay High Court seeking permission granted by the Heritage Committee and the No-objection Certificate (NOC) granted by the BMC on April 26 to raise an illuminated hoarding in Doongerwadi, which is visible from the Kemps Corner Flyover. The hoarding has been erected by Lewis Advertisers, a private party stating they had permission from the BMC. Pandole has prayed to the court that the hoarding be removed from Doongerwadi as it is against an HC order of April 2003. Read More »

MUMBAI, India—Some might see the towering billboards that rise out of a centuries-old Mumbai funeral ground as a message from beyond the grave.
But the signs — which exhort motorists to “Rev up your night life” by buying a popular car — have bitterly divided the city’s Parsi community since they were erected last week, with many people saying they desecrate the sanctity of the place.
Trustees of the funeral ground, who authorized the billboards, say they are needed to raise cash to maintain the Tower of Silence where Parsis, followers of the Bronze Age Persian prophet Zarathustra, or Zoroaster, have wrapped their dead in white muslin and left them to be devoured by vultures since 1673.
Parsis, also known as Zoroastrians, worship fire and believe that cremation is a mortal sin and that burial pollutes the earth. So they leave their dead atop the towers to be devoured by vultures, a process they believe releases the deceased’s spirit.

look forward to Parsi weddings, because that’s the only time I get to eat authentic Parsi food at a sit-down dinner, the way our food is supposed to be eaten. You’ll usually find me lingering over the Salli Boti.
This dish basically consists of a mutton gravy garnished with Salli chips or thin potato straws. Since my mom makes it so well, I haven’t got down to learning how to cook it yet. Read More »
There are many accounts as to the beginning of Mehregan. A few, different versions are listed below:
