Zoroastrian representative to the Iranian parliament Kurosh Niknam has said Iran’s independence and self-sufficiency enrages US.

Countries like the US are irritated because Iran has managed to be ‘politically, economically and scientifically independent’ over the last 30 years, he said.

This has endangered their interests, Niknam said in an interview with IRNA published on Friday.

“They are annoyed because they can not satisfy Iran like other Middle East countries. They are trying to pressure Iran to back down from its position, but Iran won’t,” he noted.

In a reference to upcoming parliamentary elections he urged the legislators to boost relations with the outside world.
