A group of Parsi Zoroastians in Mclean-Virginia celebrated Muktad and Noruz. The ceremony was held and organized by ZAMWI (Zoroastrian society of Washington D.C.) on August 9th.
According to Zoroastrian Studies Muktad is 10-day festival from 26th day of Spendarmad mah to the 5th Gatha day (in Parsi Calendar) and it is believed that the spirits (fravahrs) of the dead visit their dear ones in the physical world during this period. In the ceremony the priests perform special rituals over cooked food, fruits and fresh flowers.

His latest article in on Uran
Next on my itinerary was Mora Bunder at Uran, a small fishing village across the harbour from Bombay. The agiary wasn’t far from the jetty, and as I walked towards it I saw a couple of houses that looked unmistakably Parsi. Again, I found the agiary locked. Going around to the back, in one of the buildings in the complex, I met Kersi Sui.

Perizad Kolah Marshall:
Pateti is the last day of the year for the Parsi community and generally falls in the last days of August as per the English calendar. Bawas don’t need an excuse for celebration, so you can imagine to what extent we go to bring in the New Year. For me, it’s a ritual to visit the Fire Temple in the morning and then an elaborate sit-down lunch with the whole family comprising of all Parsi delicacies - Pattrani Machhi, Salli-boti and Pulav Dal to name a few. The Parsi Custard is generally the dessert. We distribute sweets and chocolates among friends and family. Since this Navroze happens to be the first for my seven-month-old baby Deanne, we plan to take her to the Fire Temple and seek blessings. Read More »

Ratan Naval Tata has been called many things. Quiet. Reticent. Humble. A businessman par excellence. Tenacious. And a tiger, when pushed to the wall.
As we all witnessed when it looked like the controversy about Singur, where the Tata Nano was to be manufactured, looked like escalating instead of dying down.
The 70-year-old roared,
“If people say that that we will protect our investments irrespective of anything then they are wrong. I will not bring in my employees to Singur if there is threat of them being beaten up. Tata will do whatever necessary to protect its employees.”
It was a statement, not a threat — a statement that Ratan Tata will not hesitate to execute.
Here are some more inspirational words of wisdom from a titan of India’s business world.
