Zoroastrians in Toronto area gathered at Arbab Rostam Guiv Dare Mehr and celebrated Mehrgan. The event was organized by Zoroastrian Society of Ontario (ZSO) with help from the Kanoun Council.
ZSO’s Mehrgan program included prayers, speech on the significance of Mehrgan by Mr. Bahram Bahrami, choir group performance and various other entertaining programs. After the programs everyone met each other and exchanged greeting before dancing away to the tune of the group “Faryad”.
The event started off with prayers by Mobed Mehbad Dastur.
Avesta class kids performed verses of Gatha in Farsi and English.
Choir group headed by Mr. Sharam Bastani performed 4 songs including “Pire Sabze Chak Chaku”.
The comedy play was done completely by the youths. It was directed by Mahshad Khosraviani and consisted of 3 scenes which were performed in between the other programs
The MC’s entertained the audience with their jokes and kept the whole evening full of life.

Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan Washington Inc (ZAMWI) celebrated Mehrgan on Sunday, Oct 5 in McLean, Virginia.
“ZAMWI Mehrgan celebration included recital of Yata Ahu and Ashem Vohu prayers with every body holding hands, and a Farsi and English explanation of Mehrgan festival”. Ardeshir Bakhtiar, ZAMWI president told WZNN. It was a pot luck style event and it ended with food and deserts brought by attendees.

Kambiz Azarian Yazdi: The Zoroastrians of Atlanta, GA are going to celebrate Mehregan on Saturday October 4, 2008 in Decatur,GA. The ceremony, which is held by Atlanta Zoroastrian Association (AZA), starts at 4:00 PM with Jashan and continues with a speech by Mr. Cirus Aidun on the philosophy of Mehregan.
AZA suggests a token donation of $10 per family. The collected money goes to Darbe Mehr Fund. AZA also asks volunteers to bring fowers, sukhar, malido, etc. for the Jashan ceremony.

This year NIPOC (Network of Iranian American Professionals of Orange County) is going to celebrate Mehregan 2008 on October 11 and 12, at the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center. This will be the 13th year of mehrgan celebration by NIPOC. The 2-day Mehrgan festival includes cultural and entertainig programs and exhibitions. The festival is open to all Iranians as well as non-Iranian people. This year, Mehregan includes an Artistic Design Competition also

Sometimes Spelled Mehregan, Mihregan or Mehrigan is an ancient Persian festival dating back almost 3000 years ago.
Long ago, Mehregan was celebrated by Iranians with the same magnificence and pageantry as Norouz. It has been the second most elaborate celebration after Norouz .Though most Iranians have heard about Mehregan, unlike Norouz it is not celebrated by all and is mainly regarded as a Zoroastrian festival.
