This morning New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, celebrated NauRooz with the leaders of all ethnic communities observing NauRooz holiday at a breakfast at Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the New York City Mayor.
A gathering of almost 50+ individuals included five Zoroastrians (Zarin Mehta, President New York Philharmonic; Shirin Khosravi, President, IZA; Cyrus Mehta, well-known lawyer; Kayhan Irani, famous artist; and myself)–quite a representation for a small community.

On April 27th, World Zoroastrian Chamber of Commerce and the Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York are co-sponsoring “Conversations with Tenaz Dubash.”
Please join us for a screening of Tenaz Dubash’s documentary film, “Crisis in Faith: Zoroastrians Today.” The film will be followed by a brief question and answer session along with some insights on how Tenaz started her career.

The Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, has invited FEZANA (see attached letter) to participate in the first Pravasi Bharatiya Din celebration in New York (PBD New York 2007) on September 23, 2007 . The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are planning a four-day program in New York City under the banner of ‘India at 60′ starting on September 23rd. The Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Commerce will also participate in the event. It would be geared to attract participation of those NRIs who had not been able to attend the annual PBD in India. The conference fee is a modest $30 to cover meals, airport transfers to ZAC and conference meals. Delegates are responsible for covering travel and lodging (hotel info provided), and we are pleased to make available host families should delegates prefer. The deadline for the ZAGNY Scholarships for the academic year 2007-08 has been extended to September 15, 2007. ZAGNY would encourage all full-time students at undergraduate and graduate programs to apply. ZAGNY will provide scholarships in the form of three (3) interest-free loans for $5,000, $1,000 and $1,000.

ZAGNY will hold its annual Pateti function at the Pomona Darbe Mehr on Saturday, Aug 25th. We have a fun filled program and all are encouraged to attend.
Registration will start at 5:15 PM. The program will begin with an “Atash Niayesh” prayer at 5:30 PM, followed by cocktails, between 6 and 7 PM ONLY. Once the cocktail hour has closed, we have entertainment, including a play by our Religion class students and award ceremony. This will be followed by good old Parsi bhonu and dancing. Read More »
